I. Hate. California.
Hey look! They provide "two ways" to look at my bill. Neat!
I assume these are the ways they had in mind.

Please keep in mind that we have a family of THREE. We live in a 2000 square foot house. And I don't do laundry. Imagine the energy I'd consume if I was actually ever moving from my laptop.
I did have plans this weekend that involved relaxing and drinking and BBQing. Instead I'll be having every family member fitted for solar panels.

I feel your pain. I recently had family living with me that was running space heaters in their bedrooms, which is fine with me when its WINTER, but this was JUNE. Then they had the nerve to be defensive about it when I told them it had to stop after receiving the electrice bill. Thankfully they moved out before we started having hundred degree days here.

Owww! Lena I hurt for you.
I'm scared to get my next bill now....

wtf?!?!! why is it so much?!?! do you run the air conditioner a ton cause that shit will jack it all up!
Posted by: jennster | 08/11/2006 at 07:30 PM
Hmmmm.....maybe I don't mind not having air conditioning now. That sucks though. I say tequila shot time it is.

Great Googly-Moogly!!
I'm feeling the pain in your bank account...ours is close so you aren't alone...
And we have a 'new' power company that 'cheerfully' suggests that we keep our A/C on 78 or 79 degrees so as to keep cool and not overload the whole city's systems....uh huh...with year round allergies and a huge aversion to heat and humidity....uh huh...we'll get right on that.
I say go for the tequila! Pour me one too!

Holy crap.
I have room at my place, as long as you don't mind the cats or hairballs.

OMG- I've been using that 'van down by the river' thing too myself - for other reasons but I am ROFL!!

Oh, yeah, posts like this make me glad we don't have AC. (Remind me of that next time I'm swearing and sweltering in my little hotbox, k?)

WAIT. Your bill last month was almost $700??? And I'm expecting that you made changes and STILL your bill is almost $500?
Um,I want to send you my spare pennies. I feel badly that I'm cool with very little expenditures.
Posted by: Marcia | 08/11/2006 at 11:39 PM
HOLY CRAP!!! That sucks, I would stick with the plan for the weekend...atleast stick with the drinking part, that may ease the pain for a bit!!! We should get ours any day... and it is of course gonna suck... I'm scared.

To quote Larry the Cable Guy, that ain't right.
I'm trembling in anticipation of our electric bill, since the AC has been on full blast for a month now. Meet you at the river. I'll be in the blue-green Honda Odyssey.

THAT is out of control! Our bill was like 250 this month in Florida and I thought that was high. How do they get away with that?
Posted by: Kim | 08/12/2006 at 08:42 AM
That's just...wrong.

Reminds me of living in the Caribbean. I lived in a small one bedroom, more like a bachelor pad, and our electricity was $300 a month american dollars... and we only ran the air conditioner at night.
I feel for you.

Holy Crap!! We are going to have to start a Save Lena's AC Fund. I dread to see what ours is going to be now. We live in Texas and it has been over a hundred here for almost a month. But lucky our house stays pretty cool during the day so it doesnt take much to cool it down at night. But we do keep ours at 78 79 during the day.

Jesus. That's re-god-damn-diculous. I'm so sorry!

Thanks for the reminder of one of my all-time favorite Chris Farley SNL routines -- too funny!
Bills suck. I say you should drink anyway.

Lena,
That is outrageous! You must come down here to NC...the energy bills are much more affordable. Oh, and bring that bottle of tequila with you, too. I make a mean margarita...and I have air conditioning!

my mom lives in palm springs, and her electric bill last month was $750. She has a big house, but she lives there alone and it's not like she runs around turning on the lights. crazy shit, i tell you, crazy shit.

LOL I love that idea. Wonder if the cats will sit still for a fitting! You are too funny sometimes...well most of the time!

Might I suggest unplugging the freezer in your garage that holds the remains of those who dare stand against you?
Please don't hurt me...

Finally, one reason I am thankful not to have central air. (The only reason.) Our gas bill looked that way in February.
I agree - Tequilla or van. Either works :)

ha! This is hilarious! But save some of that for me - I just got a bill from ConEdison that could put some small countries in debt. And I don't even have a house.

Um, you don't have your gas shipped to your house from another STATE, do you? Because $100 "delivery charge" seems awfully steep to pipe the gas what, maybe a few miles? That is crazy.
"A van down by the river"-HA!
